Programs

Our organization gives a global edge to our African-American youth through international scholarship; exposure to global culture, history and cuisine; and after-school and summertime virtual and in-person learning opportunities.

8 Week Virtual Learning Journey

Fulfill your wanderlust and experience international destinations, history, and culture during our 8-week virtual Learning Journey program.

Learning Journeys take students on virtual educational tours to countries abroad where they learn about the history and culture of the destination from our international team of professionals. Students will hear from educators, entrepreneurs, athletes, artists, and other business professionals who meet the standards of our 5-pillar curriculum.

Topics will include but are not limited to diplomacy, advocacy, and social justice, climate change, cultural practices, international educational and career options, sports, and the arts.

International Scholars

Our international scholars are boys and girls ages 12-17 who travel abroad with our organization. These international leadership experiences help expand their horizons through our 5-pillar curriculum: Education, Entrepreneurship, Careers, Sports, and Cultural Immersion. When students return, they bring a global edge into their extracurricular activities, education, career interests, and interpersonal relationships.

Additional Opportunities

Youth Ambassador Leadership Program: A year-round hybrid experience that allows our students to develop and excel in the area of international leadership. This experience is a virtual and face-to-face exchange that will prepare them to participate in study abroad programs, as U.S. Youth Ambassadors, in international host programs and diplomacy internships, and will also help them access college scholarship opportunities and become community leaders in their local cities. We meet once a month with an international mentor who cultivates students’ curiosity about the world and prepares them to travel on an international cohort experience.

Our youth have an opportunity to explore the world through international collaborations with our partners:

Global Ties Detroit:  An organization that hosts international exchange programs on behalf of the United States.

Northwood University International Studies Department: An educational opportunity at International Program Centers in China, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and the U.A.E.

Black Girl Diplomacy: a mentorship program for women and girls that amplifies international diplomacy.

YPT African Birthright Experiencean immersive opportunity for learning travel to Africa, including scholarly preparation and in-person historical and cultural experiences.

Gulf Coast Diplomacy: a year-long “Youth Diplomat” learning experience to explore global affairs and diplomacy, engage in service projects, and earn college scholarships.

Summer Programs

Young Ambassador Program

At this virtual camp, you will meet teens from other countries and will explore topics of global importance together. You will talk with environmental experts, explore leadership styles, and improve your language and cross-cultural life skills. You will also earn digital credentials aligned with the Open Badges Standard in global collaboration, which is great for student resumes. This summer, our International Scholars participated in a 5-week virtual internship where they discussed topics like the Northern Triangle, climate change, Black Lives Matter, diplomacy and ambassadorship, natural disasters and preparedness, and human rights with teens their age from Kosovo, Mexico, El Salvador, and around the U.S. They also worked on special teams focusing on Social Media & Marketing, Research, Fundraising & Sponsorship, and Operations of our organization.
