Women’s History Month Webinar

On March 18, 2021, YPT Global Edge hosted the “Amplifying Women and Girls in International Diplomacy” webinar, which included several incredible guest speakers from around the world: Ambassador Attallah Shabazz, Vayjayanti Pugalia, Lisa Morgan and Margaret Mutumba.

Our Youth Ambassador Scholars interviewed the speakers and discussed the important global impact each leader is making. 

Our Speakers:
Ambassador Attallah Shabazz is a diplomat, lecturer, strategist, philanthropist, professor and consultant to corporations, academia, foundations and global forums. She is a globally recognized speaker devoted to human, societal and business development with strategic evaluation, practical investment and enrichment outcomes for “definitive beneficiaries”.
 
The eldest of Dr. Betty Shabazz and Malcolm X Shabazz’s children, Ambassador Shabazz established the Pilgrimage Foundation to honor her father’s spiritual journey to the Holy Land. To honor her mother and all her ancestors, she has spent her life establishing “fellowships from the most fortunate to the disenfranchised, bridging the gaps with the sustenance that assures that ‘we step into the world — both mindful and equipped to fulfill our bounty – then share it with another.’”
 
Ambassador Shabazz served as an advisor on International Cultural Affairs & Project Development to the former Prime Minister of Belize, who appointed her in 2002 to serve as the long-term Ambassador-at-Large representing the country of Belize. She has participated in the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Briefing Forums and The United Nations Association, and works to foster diplomatic relations between cultures while sharing her expertise discerning traditional and contemporary practices, capacity-building, human resource training and economic development.
 
Vayjayanti Pugalia, from India, is an award-winning social entrepreneur, life skill architect, speaker and poet. She is the Founder of ICubo, a platform mentoring children’s creativity and skills, and serves as the Co-Chairperson at Merchant Chamber and Industry Kolkata/CSR and Rural Development Committee.
 
Vayjayanti has received multiple awards, including The Times Power Woman, Exceptional Woman Of Excellence at the
Women Economic Forum – WEF, and has been honored for her teaching, innovations and contributions to society. She is currently working with women entrepreneurs across the globe, curating The Global Homepreneurs Summit 2021 and conducting custom communication workshops.
 
Dr. Lisa Morgan works as a consultant in the field of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). She formerly served as a Regional English Language Officer for the U.S. Department of State, director of a university TESOL program, Fulbright Scholar to Belarus, community college and university ESL instructor and U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Albania.
 
Lisa has also participated in the State Department-sponsored English Language Fellows program and has carried out assignments in nineteen different countries for its English Language Specialist program. She also holds degrees in English and TESOL and a Ph.D. in Curriculum, Teaching and Educational Policy.
 
Margaret Mutumba, from Uganda, is a passionate public health researcher with over 10 years of experience in maternal and reproductive health; particularly focused on affordable infertility care in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her expertise is in health systems thinking, implementation science, qualitative research, hospital & project management, health promotion and program management.
 
Margaret is the founder of Infertility Voices, an advocacy platform that seeks to increase awareness, broaden access, and improve the affordability of fertility care in Sub-Saharan Africa. She also serves as a YPT Global Edge board member.
